All of our pups are raised in the barn/pasture with alpaca, chickens and ducks. Pups are also well socialized with people of all ages.

Maremma Sheepdog’s – The Superior Italian Livestock Guardian Dog

It has been said that the Maremma livestock guardian dog is the crème de la crème of LGD’s. Shepherds in Italy have entrusted them with their flocks for hundreds of years. The Maremma is not known to roam as other LGD’s. Maremmas bond with their livestock and stay in the pasture with them, unlike other breeds which tend to leave their livestock and pasture to chase after a predator, leaving the herd unprotected. Maremmas do not go over or dig under their fence – they stay in the pasture. Maremmas protect their livestock unlike other livestock guard animals who look out for themselves.

Maremmas are known not to bark as much as other LDGs. They can sense when are predator is in the area and if it is hunting. They do not just bark at anything that moves.

Maremma’s have a calm temperament but become fierce protectors when they sense a predator. They are able to take on predators of all sizes.

Our Maremma pups are raised in the barn with the alpaca and chickens and are also well socialized with people, including children.
